  1. INTRODUCTION-,rishikesh is a small town in the northern state of Uttarakhand in India. Scenically located where the Ganges River comes down from the Himalayas, Rishikesh catapulted to Western fame when the Beatles dropped by for a visit to Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's ashram (now closed), and the town is still known as the World Capital of Yoga.
    Swargashram ( Heavenly Adobe) as the name connotes is a beautiful place situated in picturesqe surroundings at the foot of Himalayas on the left bank of the Ganges between Rishikesh and Laxmanjhula . It is the spiritual “ground zero” of Rishikesh, filled with a concentration of ashrams and temples. The areas is known for its healthly and satwik living environment. It is this spot where from ages of yore the famous Yogis and Rishis have been doing the Tapasya. Numerous mention of this spot occurs in the holy scripture Purana...

    * Attend the evening aarti at the Triveni Ghat

    One of the most talked and visited spot in Rishikesh is the Laxman Jhoola. It is a suspension bridge across the Ganga, which has no pillar or support and is 140m long. The bridge was originally built of jute ropes but later replaced by more stable iron chains in 1929. According to the legends Lord Rama's brother Laxman crossed the river on a rope and meditated. On the west bank is the Laxman Temple dedicated to Rama's brother.

    Triveni Ghat is popular bathing Ghat, where three streams of Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati are believed to be flowing together underground. This is a sacred place where 'Pinda Shradha' is performed or food is offered to the departed soul. This is also the place where the famous evening aarti at Rishikesh takes place.

    Bharat Mandir another must visit attraction in Rishikesh was established by Adiguru Shankaracharya. The temple is located in the center of the old town on the banks of the Ganga. According to the ancient records, it is one of the oldest temples in Rishikesh. Rishikund is located adjacent to Triveni Ghat and is one of the most significant among the tourist attractions in Rishikesh. There are a number of temples in Rishikesh and some of the popular ones include Raghunath Temple, Pushkar Temple, Bhagirath Temple and Shatrughan Temple.

Rishikesh is internationally termed as capital of meditation and yoga. the town is famous for its yoga session that are taught here by many yoga experts.the city has several yoga center that attract domestic as well as foreign tourist.it is believed that meditation at the bank o f the mother ganga in rishikesh brings one closer to attainement of salvation.or moksha,as does a dip in the holy river ganga that flows through it.
